Habanamade Cuba is a family run business offering local tours and experiences in Cuba.
I was born and raised in Camaguey, Central Cuba, where my family and many of my friends continue to live. In 2007 I met my husband, a crazy Kiwi living and studying in Cuba.
We moved to New Zealand together in 2009, but have travelled back and forth ever since to visit friends and family and to guide our New Zealand mates around.
With the upsurge of interest in travel to Cuba, we have watched so many tour companies start up, promising to offer authentic experiences on the island. Unfortunately, many of these tour companies take people straight into the tourist traps, both the obvious ones and the ones designed to seem authentic (but that in reality are comically far from it).
We want you to experience the Cuba that we know, beyond the tourist trails and into the local experience. Eat with the locals, play dominoes over a shared bottle of rum, help roast a pig, learn how to roll cigars and craft cocktails… the opportunities are endless.
So how does it work? Well, you contact us and we have a chat about how long you want to go to Cuba for and what you would like to do. We also give you some ideas you may not have thought of. Then we get to work planning you a trip within your budget.
We help you book accommodation with a local focus, your transport from place to place, a local guide, and we leverage our contacts (mostly friends and family and their networks) to give you experiences you will enjoy at the time and savor as a memory.
So if you want a truly authentic experience, tailored to you, get in touch.
Look forward to hearing from you!
